The gray skies of winter have faded and the flowers and birds of Spring have returned.

As many of you have become more active after hiding from the winter weather, your fire department is doing the same. We are changing our vision for the future. As the Township grows, so does our call volume. We were dispatched to over 700 calls in 2018! As the number of calls increase, so does the demand for quality training.

Last year, we reached out to some of our neighboring departments to see if they would like to get together once a month for trainings. We loosely call it “Regional Training” and it has been a positive experience resulting in more unified trainings and tactics, and better trained firefighters for all involved. We have continued this year with more structured and enhanced training activities scheduled and we are looking forward as we develop a better working relationship with them!

Many have noticed that we did not have our annual fish fry this year. With the increased demands that we face and the current membership enrollment, we find it increasingly difficult to staff such an event.

We have engaged in several other, less demanding, fundraising and community events and we promise that we will remain a prominent entity in the community.

In December, for the first time ever, we brought Santa Claus to several Township neighborhoods! Although the weather did not cooperate, our residents turned out in larger than expected numbers and the jolly old elf himself said that shows just how special Chippewa is!

As you get involved in your Spring activities, keep up to date with events that we’re hosting or participating in on our Facebook page or website.

Through the Spring and Summer months you will see us out working, training and responding more often than before. Your continued support is needed more now than ever!
